It’s the same man, the same producer, and he’s got the same quintessential attitude towards life and music as he ever had! We’re speaking about Martin Solveig of course, and he’s back with a brand new single, simply called ‘Hello’.

Of course, there is nothing ‘simple’ about this record, far from it; it’s brilliant, and as with everything the Frenchman does, comes with a jaw dropping video.

Let’s not forget Martin’s last release – the very lush and very pop ‘Boys & Girls’, a track that clocked up over 2 million hits on Youtube and brought to an end the ‘C’est La Vie’ chapter of his award winning career. It’s Martin’s affections for Dragonette that have led him to invite them back for this next record that once again feature Martina Sorbara’s untouchable vocals.

‘Hello’ is a funky, driving number, doused with chunky bass riffs, hypnotic grooving synths, skipping percussion and vocal hooks that will plant themselves in the mind of even the most cynical of critics all summer long.

Set amongst the media furore of The Roland Garros French Tennis Open, ‘Hello’ follows the story of a DJ who is in training because it takes “a lot of skill and a lot of energy to become a DJ”. Spurred on by the off-the-wall plots of his manager, French DJ Gregory Darsa, Martin finds himself unwittingly staged on centre court for the match of his life against Bob Sinclar. Sinclar is a seasoned pro, and Martin’s inexperience on the court shows – that is, until the love of his life shows up. But things of course don’t always run so smoothly… all’s fair in love and war, right?

The new single, with its huge crossover appeal and popular structure, is firm evidence of Martin’s musical prowess, unstoppable energy and strong sense of humour as he delivers a shot of cynicism and good-hearted humour into the arm of pop music. This highly improbable match was shot on location in front of 12,000 spectators, the day before the beginning of the competition thanks to the exceptional kindness of the Roland Garros’ management. The extravagant duel was punctuated with unexpected but welcome interventions from real international tennis stars such as Novak Djokovic, Gaël Monfils, Olivia Sanchez, Mathilde Johansson and hosted by Nelson Montfort.

A breakthrough summertime smash, ‘Hello’ deserved a video with flair, passion and originality to rightfully catapult it forward. Welcome back Martin Solveig.

One of the most anticipated Defected releases for the past four months finally exits the promo stage and into the hands of the mass public. Without a doubt, this is one of the most original sounding house tunes to land in 2006.

With an all star supporting cast of remixes, Defected played all the “right” cards in this deal, showcasing reinterpretations that should garner support across the board. Let’s begin, shall we.

Before highlighting the brilliance of the remixers, let’s give credit where credit is due. Martin Solveig is rapidly emerging as one of France’s brightest hopes for the future of house music. Innovative and brave, this production, like his former hit “Rockin’ Music”, proves once again that when vocal house is done properly, nothing can takeover a dance floor quite like it. This is an excellent creation to say the least, and should propel Mr. Solveig’s career into a very busy globe-trotter (if he isn’t already)…

Richard Earnshaw & Junior Jack come up trumps on the remix tip. Earnshaw’s remix is a hard hitting, deep house masterpiece with big drums, thick bass line, and keys to melt your soul. Minimizing the vocal, this remake may win over the dubby house fans as well. Junior Jack comes through for the more uptempo house headz, with his classic signature sound, but instead of criticizing his effort for using a “formula”. I must say, his remix really fits in nicely under the vocals. JJ must be complemented on taking the track to another level by adding some fantastic tribal drum work at the peak of the tune, really pushing the energy of the song off the charts.

Danny J provides two mixes on the package, including a dub, which falls into an afro-house, funky groove category that provides some mind challenging, intricate studio work. His mixes are for the fans of dance music that appreciate detailed efforts, and blinding skills behind the studio knobs. Quality!

Included on this CD single package is the video, which should provide a treat for many of you who enjoy seeing the characters behind dance tracks.

Martin Solveig hits Radio 1 ‘A’ List with

Martin Solveig, the 27 year old Parisian, is releasing his 3rd single ‘Everybody’ on his own label Mixture in France and on Defected in the UK.

“Everybody” has been receiving phenomenal support across the board from the underground club DJs to the big time radio jocks. Pete Tong has aired the track no less than eight times to date, including making it his ‘Essential New Single’; and Jo Whiley made it her single of the week with 5 consecutive plays. The final icing on the cake was XFM’s James Hyman enthusiastically announcing it was his ‘Friday Foamer’. This track seems to be appealing to all music aficionados.

Martin Solveig, already a household name in France, is now becoming ever more familiar on this side of the channel. Martin is still riding the wave from his top 40 charting, trend setting, and innovative sounding ‘Rocking Music’, a House Music Awards 2004 nominee for “Track of the Year”. Martin also has a large fan base cultivated by his international DJ sets and produces alongside other French music luminaries such as DJ Gregory, Claude Monnet, Bob Sinclar and Julien Jabre.
