San Francisco’s Mushroom Jazz groove master Mark Farina undoubtedly has a solid and loyal fan base, and as such he can probably expect fans to want an autograph or have their photo taken with him at the end of the night. But in this video we get a fascinating peek as to what happens when fans want to ‘give back’ to the DJ that just rocked their socks. Poise and grace must be a required course at DJ school, as Mark so aptly demonstrates here.
Some producers seem to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time, reaping a whole slew of serendipitous benefits afforded to them by circumstance alone. Other artists work hard, keeping their heads down to get the job done. Mark Farina on the other hand, manages to combine the two to form a synergistic union of industrious skill and luck which has led to a constant wave of success.
Mark Farina’s highly acclaimed Mushroom Jazz series is about to receive a 20-track, sixth installation, due out on October 21st on Om Records. We imagine Mr. Farina will stay true to the essence of the sound that made his Mushroom compilation series so groovy – jazzy, underground hip-hop flavors infused with just the right level of mellow housey thump.
