Let’s go back to a time where the fashion trends revolved around wearing overall jumpers backwards, the clothes were baggy, and we JUMPED to music. Bootleg action in full effect here, and here’s a party weapon that will have smiles glazing across all breeds and walks of life – good things always happen when the golden age of hip hop meets house music!
The storming, ultra catchy “No Sugar” is a collaboration between Dave Lee (aka Joey Negro) and Marko Milicevic (aka Gramophonedzie) and features London based future-jazz vocalist Shea Soul.
“No Sugar” leaps out of the speakers with an extremely energetic jazz based groove, big band brass and an infectious jazzy scat before dropping into some pure 50’s style swing which showcases Shea’s delightful vocals as she tells us that her man “Won’t Get No Sugar” if he treats her bad.
Before long things switch back to the uptempo section with a massive build using the same approach as Gramaphonedzie’s “Why Don’t You” but without any samples, this is all original.
FHMDC’s Implicit & Suneel’s new June/July 2010 DJ Chart is now available at Junodownload.com with 27 smokers integrated with a blitz of filtered disco funk, chuggin’ twisters, and a diverse set of intelligently designed vocals.

Belgrade’s Gramophonedzie (Marko Milicevic) first broke through in 2009 with his hit ‘Why Don’t You’, incorporating soul and swing samples into feel-good filter house that earned the support of top-tier DJs, went to #12 in the UK sales charts, and logged over a million views on YouTube.
Since then, he’s remixed DJ Sneak, Mange Le Funk, Mowgli, the Young Punx, and more, bringing to each his unique filter-house touch, and he’s kept the singles coming with ‘Street Lady’, ‘More I Get’, and more; his DJ sets, meanwhile, are helping him make the transition to Balkan superstar to global superstar.
We caught up with him in a rare moment of downtime; read on for the interview.

Extra large package to share here from the ultra-innovative outfit – The Young Punx – as they produce gem after mighty gem. This go-round, we find Hal Ritson crafting a vision with the hip-hop styled vocals of Count Bass D that defines the original feature. The important level of detail for FHMDC fans are the re-interpretations from Ni Disco/Electro/Drum n’ Bass phenom Phonat, the very funky Gramophonedzie, and a new version from The Young Punx themselves. Not to be forgotten are the notable contributions from Black Noise and Wez Clarke.
We stumbled across this video from a recent posting on Gramophonedzie’s Facebook Fan Page. It turned out to be a wicked documentation of the Nocturnal sponsored Feb. 27th event at Matter in London. Music, interviews, and more!
Here we have the official video for Gramophonedzie – ‘Why Don’t You’ – which has been a smash single for the San Francisco record label Guesthouse Records. The video is extremely creative, and if you haven’t heard the track…well, let’s just say its a great weapon to have in the collection.
