A man who rarely grants interviews, preferring instead to lock himself in the studio crafting dance floor hits such as last summers smash ‘Pjanoo’ alongside numerous others as well as running three highly successful record labels ‘it’s clear to see why this man has achieved such heights!
Here Eric Prydz talks to ITM’s Angus Paterson in part 2 of the interview that took place late last year, where he talks about his epic Australian tour that didn’t quite happen in the end, as well as his approach to producing that’s placed him in the very top tier of musicians making music for the clubs’
Eric Prydz has canceled his seven-date tour of Australia and New Zealand, set to begin on New Years Eve, due to his fear of flying.
Anyone who’s has witnessed the hysteria his tracks have created on the dancefloor over the past few years will understand the special connection that Prydz has with what works on the dancefloor. ‘When I make music, most of the time I try and picture myself being in a club on a dancefloor somewhere,’ he told ITM. ‘And I make the music for dancefloors. When you listen to it at home, or on your iPod, it won’t have the same effect as when you hear it on a big soundsystem in a club’ I know what I want to hear on a dancefloor, and that’s what I’m trying to accomplish when I make my tracks. And a lot of other people agree with me I think:
Eric Prydz’ many producer aliases have one thread that binds them all ‘ superior sound quality.
‘There will be a Pryda album, it’ll surface around March next year. And it’s mostly going to contain all new material,’ Eric told ITM. When queried on whether the material would remain dancefloor focused, or if it would see him exploring some new downtempo territory, he confirmed it’ll be a release that’ll be geared to satisfy his many fans. ‘It’s going to be a mix of ‘listening stuff’ and dancefloor focused stuff, but it’s all going to have that recognisable Pryda thread running through it.’

Swedish super producer Eric Prydz has two mammoth tracks out this week under his credible electro house guise Cirez D. Both have shot straight into Beatport’s Top 10 download chart, which should cheer old Prydz up after his recent bust up with Loveland Festival in Holland
