Colette – 5 Magazine’s Project Video

Colette

Colette is one of the bona fide superstar talents to emerge from the hothouse of the Chicago House Music scene in the 1990s. Living down the street from Gramaphone Records, the classically trained vocalist soon found her way to the vinyl bins and launched a career that has taken her around the world.

In June of this year, Colette launched Candy Talk Records. Few new labels (and there are dozens that pop up every week nowadays) have generated as much buzz. The first release, “Call on Me” (from which the track below is taken) was charted and hyped up damn near everywhere (including by us!)

In this video shot just prior to and at her birthday party in May at SmartBar, Colette talks about her early choir girl days, singing over DJs after meeting DJ Lego at 16, learning to DJ herself and her relationship with OM Records.

Joshua Heath feat. Colette – Call On Me (Giano Remix) [Candy Talk Records]

Joshua Heath Feat. Colette – Call On Me

Colette Candy Talk Records

Colette’s new record label – CandyTalk – kicks things off with a solid, all-around package that is already getting picked up on various PR and news wires. FHMDC recommended, and our personal favorite comes from the multi-talented musician Chuck Love featured below in the video clip!

Colette unleashes her new label with a vengeance! She doesn’t hold back on the 1st release with remixes by Chuck Love, LawnChair Generals, Giano and Sexual Chocolate. Chuck Love’s mix is on point just as you should expect from him. It’s got the perfect combination of instrumentation and synths to make its way into a variety of DJs repertoires and will snuggle up comfortably with your OM releases. LCG come with 2 offerings, a full vocal and a dub. Believe me, neither will disappoint. This is almost the same sound that made me fall in love with their early releases on Viva! and Westbound. If you’re looking something a bit deeper the man of the moment from Italy, Giano delivers a nice treat. Finally if you really want to bang the system go right for the Sexual Chocolate mix, it’ll give your stereo a Bassline/Fidget-style workout.

Chuck Love & Colette – UR Everything

Two FHMDC favorites Chuck Love & Colette join forces, and the results are spectacular! An additional layer of significance associated with the release is the announcement of The Love Network – Chuck Love’s new dance music label and production home.

Chuck Love and Colette have collaborated on a new track called “UR Everything”. The track features Chuck’s signature layered deep house melodies paired with Colette’s hypnotizing sugary vocals. On remix duty, Potty Mouth’s Santiago & Bushido provide a club banger (with hints reminiscent of MANDY vs. Booka Shade “Body Language”) featuring dubbed out / cut up vocals.

Label: OM
Format: Digital

She’s back, and sounds sexier than ever. Colette as a vocalist has been making waves for years now, but to our disbelief, she continues to raise the bar with each production. And although her vocal talents are evident, it is the unique trait of lyrical authoring that she excels in.

In a genre that suffers, and sadly, excepts poor lyrical writing as a norm, Colette & house producer/performer at the moment, Chuck Love, join creative forces to serve up the finest remix of the release’s bunch. With a trademark OM style bottomless track, tightly knitted with high quality, organic ingredients. the single stands proudly among the extensive OM catalog… Read more
