Handling one of the most unique records of the year requires no small amount of talent and experience, so step forward Chocolate Puma and Guti; three producers with a wealth of both who provide simply stunning remixes of Ray Foxx’s ‘The Trumpeter’.
First up, Chocolate Puma go seriously big, with an epic breakdown, soaring piano chords and the very heaviest of beats that only they can confidently provide. And while they go straight for the jugular with their version, Guti conveys all the subtlety and attention to detail for which he has become known, with a heady, sun-drenched, Balearic incarnation that shows off his legendary piano skills and takes the listener on a soothing journey through gently rolling bass and infectious percussion.

The tasty puma of sweetness returns with a classic, remixed, and reminding us that if you truly understand the soul of funky house, equity in the game goes a LONG way. The production duo with the assistance of Colonel Red’s vocals nail it out of the park with a filtered out, sweet experience reflecting the power of house music when a dose of “realness” is added to the recipe. This is the type of music that makes one wiggle in unexplainable ways, smiling at strangers dancing around you. Read more

Music software developers FXpansion are known for their excellent drum plug-in GURU. We love GURU, and we just started using its rather excellent successor GEIST. So FXpansion thought it was the right moment to sit down with us and ask us some questions.

The biggest rave record ever to come out of The Netherlands would definitely be Fierce Ruling Diva – Rubb It In. After 19 years (yes, it’s that old) Bart B More got the rights to re-release this gem on his Secure Recordings imprint. He thought we were old school enough to do a remix. We are, and so we did the remix. Bring on synth stabs, glow sticks and shouting diva’s.
