An interesting turn for the master mind behind the studio knobs aka Axwell. Seems like his time spent in Ibiza in 2006 has had an impact on the young man’s production output as we are greeted with a very baleric, white isle influenced symphony of sounds.

By no means is this a let down by one of the new school “dons” of house – just pleasantly different. Funky drum programming over tough, tribal grooves lead us into a subtle, uplifting old school piano breakdown that will have the old schoolers 2nd guessing whether they should have given up those “fun substances” of the past. As for the new schoolers, who knows what turns them on these days. but one thing is for sure, the dance floor will be rammed with beautiful ladies and watchful male eyes as this tune reaches its peak… Read more

Sessions 8: Axwell

Sessions 8: AxwellFresh off the heels of Seamus Haji’s contribution to the series, Ministry of Sound shows no sign of slowing down with the signing of the Swedish house superstar to mix the latest installment of their popular series.

2006 has certainly been kind to Axwell. From landing an unprecendented array of high-profile remix packages, to his debut next week on the Essential Mix, the man has positioned himself at the forefront of the international house scene, and virtually overnight.

And now, Ministry of Sound’s “Sessions” mix comp can be added onto that pile. Featuring two discs of house music, this release features a track selection that properly represents Axwell’s diverse style, spanning from vocal house to gritty techno and electro.

Axwell: Making Moves in the ’06

Axwell: Making Moves in the '06His meteoric rise to fame still in full-throttle, Axwell has a number of things still to come this year, including an Essential Mix and a string of high-profile remixes.

On August 20, the man of the moment will take his turn behind the decks for his debut, and much anticipated, Essential Mix on BBC Radio One.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s also just completed remixes for Madonna’s “Jump” and Nelly Furtado & Timbaland’s “Promiscuous”. Release dates TBA.

And in an extended head nod to his continuing global dominance, he recently completed one half of the “Clubber’s Guide to 2006″ compilation alongside Australian DJ Goodwill for Ministry of Sound Australia.

Label: Atlantic
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 10/4/05

From Staines, an unfashionable London commuter town under the flight path of Heathrow Airport (it’s the home of fictional gangsta Ali G) come tales of working class frustrations and ambition played to a ska soundtrack. With harmonicas honking like car horns and lyrics about ATMs, Hard-Fi’s music never strays far from the streets. July 2005′s debut album – Stars of CCTV – enjoyed both immediate commercial success and a nomination for 2005′s Mercury Music Prize (an award designed to showcase the year’s 12 best albums from U.K. and Irish artists) leading to inevitable comparisons between bandleader Richard Archer and the Streets’ Mike Skinner, but also Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker and – perhaps most accurately – the Specials’ Terry Hall… Read more

The mighty Axwell continues to head down the road to the EDM Hall Of Fame with another scorcher for the house audience. It is undeniably stunning the amount of quality music this man has been associated with over the last few years, and amazingly, he continues to set the bar even higher with each of his efforts.

“Watch The Sunrise” is a feel-good, prime time vocal houser, complete with a classy guitar riff, bassbin rattling 4/4′s, and a male vocal that will get the panties wetter than Usher, David Beckham, Brad Pitt and Jon Deke all at your next backyard barbeque. The break down climaxes into one of those unforgettable moments, yearning for the dance floor’s attention, and just like a stubborn bully in grade school, will get what it wants. and what it wants here boys & girls is:.. Label: Nero
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 8/18/05
Audio Sample: Listen

Why did it take so long for such a proper remix to come out for this ’05 anthem? I mean, this ‘ish is fuc*in’ unreal and somehow makes a played out track sound completely fresh all over again.

My hat goes off to Jerry Ropero & Denis The Menace, as these boys are making some serious noise right now with their top notch production. They rip into Axwell’s original, ignore the new cheesy vocal that Data records required for their release versions, and stick to the track’s finest moments, and just take off on a magic carpet ride of percussive Teneglia bliss! .. Probably the biggest house anthem from across the pond this year, Axwell has been enjoying a tremendous amount of attention for the effort. With a slew of remixes approaching a somewhat more commercial release via Ministry of Sound’s ‘Data’ records label, we come across a set of remixes by the one like Kurtis Mantronik.

Adding a slightly more uptempo vibe from the original mix, reinterpretated bassline, and the recently new vocal smacking, all the tools were here for remix success… Read more

There are tracks that travel in & out of DJ boxes all the time that receive 1-3 rotations on the wheels of steel, and then their life is all but over. And then there are tracks like Axwell’s “Feel The Vibe” that truly stand the test of time. nnThis record is a gem. A wicked piece of wax that will catch the groove of deep, funky, and spacey house heads all alike. An infectious, uplifting vocal product that the house community can be proud to present, the original mix has been receiving heavy plays all over the world. nnA remix has been added by DJ Flex & Sandy Wilhem – taking the good natured, spiritual vibe of the original, and creating a tribal based, summertime pleaser. A thick bassline, groovy drum arrangements, and maintaining the vocal in it’s true form, don’t be surprised to catch your booty swinging left to right to this choon as the temperature rises for the summer season.nnOverall a great product on both sides – two thumbs up from the boys at www.funkyhousemusic.com!nn1) Feel The Vibe (Original Mix)nn2) Feel The Vibe (DJ Flex Featuring Sandy Wilhem Remix)n
