Mentalist Italian-Disco-House duo Fare Soldi had a coffee a few weeks ago, the results are like when Popeye has spinach except instead of beating some fat guy with a beard they make remixes. This is a very fun and creative ‘remix’ of that Duck Sauce track which hasn’t been released yet. So it’s a bootleg of something which doesn’t exist!! Means it very exclusive no? Is it controversial? Will A-Trak shout at me via Twitter? Will anybody actually notice or care? Who knows, so stay tuned! Will you dance and have a happy face whilst listening to this? YES!

One of the greatest DJs, producers and songwriters in House Music, Mark Grant is renowned worldwide for his soulful touch on the keys and his impeccable productions. The former resident at Red Dog has released music on OM, Guidance, Ultra and of course his own Blackstone Records, as well as mixing the seminal A Taste of Cajual compilation from 1997. He was also named our 2009 Remixer of the Year!

Seen these days as the elder statesman of Hed Kandi, DJ Andy Norman is originally part of the founding line-up of one the UK’s biggest dance compilation record labels. He started working with label founder Doyle back in 1989; it was around that time when they held small local club events namely, ‘Freestyle’, ‘Colours’ and the now very well known ‘Back To Love’ for a number of years. During these years Hed Kandi was born.

Andy went on to team up with Doyle at Hed Kandi after the label’s first year to work on the label’s growth. In that period he assisted in the compilation of a number of quality album releases for Hed Kandi and the more soulful sister label, Jazz Fm records.

Currently one of the main resident DJs of ‘Team Kandi’ Andy continues to grace some of the world’s greatest nightclubs across the globe; Australia, Japan, Singapore, the Philippines, Russia & North America are just a few of the destinations where Andy has brought the sound of Hed Kandi. He’s still a part of the Kandi Radio team, presenting radio shows on Ministry of Sound Radio, 4-6pm every Sunday afternoon.

Aeroplane is now a one-man operation, Vito having amicably parted company with his bandmate Stephen Fasano. Not that we should be alarmed. “There are worse things in life!” says Vito. “Stephen’s gonna do music on his own, I’m gonna do music on my own. I’m the studio guy, he was more the DJ so when the music became more important, the more I was alone in the studio.”

Cajmere (aka Green Velvet) is one of the most forward-thinking producers in dance music, and through Cajual and Relief Records (to say nothing of his own tracks… of which you can say a lot) almost single-handedly ushered in the Second Wave of Chicago House Music in the 1990s.

Re-visiting his first production ever on Farplane Records, Rasmus Faber gives his smash hit “Ever After” the 2010 remix treatment.

Credited as a dancefloor staple by many of the industry’s main players when it was first released in 2003, “Ever After” (2010 remix) is packing rolling basslines with drama filled horns and of course the unforgettable vocal loop of Emily McEwan gets brought to the chop shop and driven threw a filter for primetime dance-floor effect.

“Ever After” is also given the dub treatment in a second remix and is sure to be well received the second time around.

Also included on the EP is Rasmus’ past production “Get Over Here”, with a re-mastering treatment by the man himself. With the sassiness of South Beach and the heat of a South American horn section, this percussion heavy and tango laced scorcher has been tweeted to the phatter side of town.

Rasmus has carefully loaded both tunes to the brim with dancefloor hooks and influences from the four corners of the planet to insure this EP follows in suit of the previous Farplane releases, delivering a quality package!

Colette is one of the bona fide superstar talents to emerge from the hothouse of the Chicago House Music scene in the 1990s. Living down the street from Gramaphone Records, the classically trained vocalist soon found her way to the vinyl bins and launched a career that has taken her around the world.

In June of this year, Colette launched Candy Talk Records. Few new labels (and there are dozens that pop up every week nowadays) have generated as much buzz. The first release, “Call on Me” (from which the track below is taken) was charted and hyped up damn near everywhere (including by us!)

In this video shot just prior to and at her birthday party in May at SmartBar, Colette talks about her early choir girl days, singing over DJs after meeting DJ Lego at 16, learning to DJ herself and her relationship with OM Records.

Electronic music pioneer DJ Dan is set to release his debut artist album FUTURE RETRO on September 14. The album is a collection comprised of two vantage points: one looking back and paying homage to where electronic music has come from, and one looking to the future of where it’s going.

An appropriate perspective for this musical luminary, Future Retro is a culmination of all things great on the dance floor, fusing classic dance tracks with his unique blend of funky driving Electro House that will no doubt take club-goers on a musical journey that will span the past, present, and the future.

Dan will release his latest single “Fascinated,” along with seven remixes, on August 24. The retro track was originally released in 1987 from the Latin freestyle dance-pop group Company B, and hit #1 on the Dance chart in the U.S. Says Dan, “’Fascinated’ is regarded as a dance music classic. I used to include this track on my early mixtapes that I would mix with house and hip house. All through DJ Dan’s epic journey from the realms of rave culture to the present day, he has amassed an extensive list of supporters. A stalwart of the West Coast House sound, DJ Dan began his career in Seattle in 1989. After a move to Los Angeles where he became a fixture among the rave culture of the early ‘90s, he went on to break new ground as a founding member of the influential collective Funky Tekno Tribe. In recent years, as remixer extraordinaire (Lady Gaga, P. Diddy, Black Eyed Peas), label owner, and artist, DJ Dan continues to impart his influential voice of authenticity, knowledge, and pure love for all things Dance music.

Nicholas Bentley directs this enchanting promo for rising stars Fenech Soler. Shot in the pretty Norfolk countryside, the cinematic locations are complimented with a powerful band performance and engaging narrative.

“Shooting outside, in the UK is always a little bit of a gamble – usually if you want it to be sunny it’s dull and if you want it to be rainy it’s dry” explains Bentley. “Luckily we had really good weather to shoot the promo and to me, parts don’t even look like the UK.

“The band had already started establishing an aesthetic that mixed masks with a more futuristic palette for their stage costumes. I really liked their look and wanted to build on it for this video. Previously they focused on performance and were keen to make something that pushed them a little bit more by creating something that wasn’t overly literal to the lyrical content and moved away from a full on performance video.

“I pitched an idea that took the emotional undertones of the song, their styling and an aspect of performance to create something more suggestive and ambiguous.”

UK indie trio Friendly Fires will mix the next Suck My Deck compilation for the Bugged Out crew.

Following the likes of Brodinski, Erol Alkan and Simian Mobile Disco in curating a SMD mix, the FF boys have a lot to live up to, although having carved out a successful niche as DJs on the club and festival circuit they know their dance music onions.

This knowledge is reflected in the tracklisting, as is a hitherto unknown love for the Rush Hour imprint, with releases from Tom Trago, Boo Williams and BDI all popping up in a mix that looks set to straddle the lines between disco and house.

We’re also particularly excited about an exclusive collaboration between Friendly Fires and Canadian house types Azari & III, entitled “Stay Here”. The mix will be released on September 27 via Bugged Out.

There may be some proof to how good the Boys Noize DJ set was at Fuji Rock’s Red Marquee in my not physically being able to write anything at all until now that the sun’s both come up and gone down again. All I have down in my notebook for the show is four words: THA STADIUM RAVE SHIT! There’s just something about Europeans; they know how to pull off that kind of massive sound. The Red Marquee probably holds around 3,000 to 5,000, but this kind of music could power a party that’s triple that big. Boys Noize – or Alexander Ridha, as it says on his drivers license – certainly knows how to pull it off. On the decks, he’s like a beanpole on springs in a florescent orange b-boy cap, and he commands the action like a kid who just realized, “If I twist this knob, I can make 5,000 people jump up and down like maniacs.”

On August 6th, 2010, “Dark Crooning”, an electro pop EP (3 tracks) will be released as the first in a series of four from Yannick Aellen on DSQT.

Released at long last, “Dark Crooning” is the culmination of Yannick Aellen’s many years of creative collaboration with producer Seiith. Made between Liverpool, London, Zurich and Berlin, this first EP contains rather dark, electronic pop songs. “The devil (is a woman I never slept with)”, which is vaguely reminiscent of Depeche Mode, has already become the catwalk song and favorite of Berlin fashion label Kaviar Gauche. Yannick Aellen’s music has long since been a standard for British-Taiwanese label Victim by Mei Hui Liu.

Yannick Aellen has already provided management, casting, choreography and creative support for various fashion labels and events (Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Todd Lynn, Stella/Swiss Textiles Award, etc.) as well as for stars such as Rossy de Palma, Vanessa Paradis, Patrick Wolf or Luke Evans.

“Dark Crooning” has been mastered by Nilesh Patel (Björk, Daft Punk and many more) in the Exchange Mastering Studios in London and was released on August 6th, 2010.

Prolific DJ and producer Dave Lee (aka Joey Negro) has unveiled details for his next full-length, entitled ‘The Phuture Ain’t What It Used to Be’.

Lee has released his fair share of albums over the past two decades, most famously as Joey Negro and The Sunburst Band, but The Phuture… will be his first as Akabu, a guise he’s used off and on since 2000. According to Lee, the new LP shows him moving away from the organic and live sounds of his other monikers for something a bit more, well, futuristic. “After a year producing disco I wanted to do something more electronic and utilize some of the great modern studio technology that’s out there,” he says. “I’ve still tried to attempt to inject some of the excitement of live players and musicality into the electronic music I produce.”

U.K. house-music emporium Toolroom Records is known for churning out peak-hour anthems like nobody’s business. Along the way, they’ve also cultivated a new generation of DJ talent. The label’s latest addition to its mighty stable of artists is Gina Star, an up-and-coming DJ/producer whose “This Is Hollywood” featuring Roland Clark stormed the charts earlier this year, with her follow-up, “I Want It Now,” dominating South Beach during WMC 2010. Star, who originally hails from Dallas, recently relocated from London to Los Angeles. While working on music, she’s dabbling with modeling and is currently working on music with James Reynolds (Braund Reynolds) and other Toolroom label mates.
