RIP: Mel CherenSadly, on December 7th 2007 the dance music community lost a legend — Mel Cheren aka “The Godfather of Disco”. As the founder of West End Records and the visionary behind The Paradise Garage, Mel revolutionized Disco music and the Club scene as a whole.

Resist Music ceases operation, being LiquidatedAlong with 3Beat Digital and Amato Distribution, Resist Music (formerly React Music) has ceased operation and is being liquidated. The landscape of Electronic Dance Music distribution is continuing to be a state of flux from the uncertainty of vinyl in the new digital distribution age.

Resist Music was established in 1990 (known then as React Music) and until 2004 was part of the Beechwood Music group before its closure which foisted an estimated $1.9 million of debt onto React. The company reformed as Resist and had never looked back. Its closure is sure to send shockwaves through the dance community.

Club Azuli and The Cross to close

Club Azuli and The Cross to closeAfter 14 years of being a staple in the London house music club scene, The Cross, will close permanently on January 1st 2008 and will be demolished to make way for renovations to Kings Cross.

This also marks the end of Azuli’s “Club Azuli” Saturday nights which have been instrumental in pushing world-class house lineups for many years.
