NAMM Update on Ableton’s “The Bridge”

There has been a lot of rumor and excitement about the recently announced Ableton “The Bridge.  Well the guys over at Create Digital Music were able to get some more solid details on the floor of the 2010 NAMM on what’s going to be in the realm of the possible:

We’ve gotten to speak to Ableton and Serato representatives; see the short video of Ableton’s Dennis DeSantis and Ableton’s official overview of the tool, as shot by intrepid CDM NAMM contributor Neil Bufkin. Based on additional conversations, here’s what we know.

Akai APC20 Ableton Controller

Don’t have enough loot for a full Akai APC40? Well now you can still take your Ableton Live sets to the next level with the Akai APC20 Ableton Controller. Create Digital Music has the full lowdown as part of their 2010 NAMM coverage:

Ableton Live-specific controllers just got another addition. You probably could have guessed this would come out, following the APC40 and Novation’s grid-only Launchpad last year, but the Akai APC20 is the new, smaller sibling to Akai’s APC40. The APC20 does basically everything the APC40 does on the latter’s left-hand side — it’s a grid of buttons, a set of mixers for your tracks, buttons for activating tracks (and solo/cue/record), and shortcuts for moving around and triggering the transport. Using the buttons, you can trigger clips or notes, with additional buttons for scenes and stopping clips around the outside of the 8×5 array…

FunkyHouseMusic.com Version 2.0

It’s been just over five years since we first launched FunkyHouseMusic.com and for a while it was becoming clear that it was time to upgrade from our original completely custom website format to a more standard, flexible, and extensible website architecture — one that would allow us to better connect with you our readers in this new age of social media. After hundreds of lines of code and many hours of hard work, we’ve managed to import all of our content from day one into our new site, which is founded on a WordPress back-end. It’s been a long time coming, but we are excited about all of the possibilities the future holds…

Here’s a short summary of some of the new features of FunkyHouseMusic 2.0:

The search box at top of the page allows you to search the full text of the entire site — no need for an external search engine to find what you are looking for.

Tagging
See a post with your favorite artist?  Click on that artist’s tag to quickly find other items containing that artist.  See who’s getting talked about the most by browsing the most popular tags using our tag cloud on the sidebar to the right.
