As featured on Tensnake’s new commercially released mix album – ‘Tensnake In The House’ – on Defected Records, we were struck when we heard this tune by Phase II a.k.a. Blaze. It oozed out of the speakers with a sense of timeless class, and it turns out the tune was produced in 1988. It’s amazing what happens when you get a visionary behind the production knobs – this is positive vibe house music at its finest!
French record label Kitsune is at it again with another strong package of funky house meets electro-pop that sounds fantastic and meshes together like two peas in a pod. Wicked release!
Bright, colorful and sassy artist Yelle is back with a new single « La Musique » to be released on Kitsuné on October 4th 2010!
Yelle (and producers GrandMarnier & Tepr) first came to prominence in 2006 with the song “Je veux te voir” (“I wanna see you”) becoming in just a few months a cult hit on dance floors from Paris to London and New York…
Yelle is driving the new non-aggressive girl power scene, delivering kick-ass lyrics while echoing a certain nostalgia for the golden years of French electro-pop (Etienne Daho, Elli & Jacno, Chagrin d’Amour Taxi Girl or Lio) but all boosted with her own flavored groove and subtle vibe into some booty-pop. She is currently putting the final touch to her new songs on the West Coast of France. Produced by Siriusmo, ‘La Musique’ is one of them. Released on French label Kitsuné on October 4th, the EP also contains hot remixes by Discodeine, Lorenz Rhode, Tepr and Myd !
Icing on the cake Yelle decided to offer you a Mini-mix and the Lorenz Rhode remix of this fab package…

Last week, Toronto house outfit Azari & III—perhaps you remember them from our recent feature—released this new single on Tiga’s Turbo imprint. Where older Azari & III efforts like “Hungry for the Power” and “Reckless (With Your Love)” were big vocal tracks, “Indigo” relegates the (still-excellent) vocals to a support role, allowing the song’s pulsing synths, piano melodies, classic Chicago style, and feelgood spirit to lead the way. Don’t get us wrong—this one can still be an anthem, just not one of the sing-along variety. The Azari boys are currently at work on their debut full-length, which should see the light of day next year.

Due for release on September 29th, 2010 on Defected Records, it seems Treasure Fingers is on the verge of becoming an internationally recognized household name. We’re very pleased to see the interaction of this Brooklyn-based artist with the U.K.’s largest house music label, and the first release package does not disappoint. We see funky/disco, and an old school re-visitation of the synth-heavy hardcore/piano house era across the EP’s two tracks. Peep the video below to get a heavy sampling of what’s to come!
