Treasure Fingers – Discodust Interview

Treasure Fingers

Ashley Jones has been an artist known by multiple names and has, in turn, produced tracks spanning the genre spectrum. Taking the building blocks that his musician father prepared him with, he has been playing the proverbial musical roulette wheel landing briefly on everything from high school bands to producing beats for hip hop artists to a drum n bass outfit called Evol Intent. The ball has finally come to rest on his most recent and aptly named nu-disco moniker, Treasure Fingers.

Farplane Records Presents: Rasmus Faber Remixed

Rasmus Faber

“Since the founding of Farplane Records back in 2003, I’ve been constantly blessed with lots of talented producers remixing my music. This compilation brings the attention to all of them.

When I compiled the songs I realized how many producers it really was, and I feel truly honored for each and every one of them. From the club stompers of Axwell and Jerome Isma-Ae, through the hands-in-the-air beauties from Kaskade and Christian Alvarez, the classy cuts from Miguel Migs and Wamdue Project, and the upfront sounds of Tiger Stripes and Lovebirds, and many more, its an alternative journey through the songs I’ve written over the years.”

Rhythm Masters – Kissy Sell Out DJ Mix

Rhythm Masters

Rhythm Masters was a house music duo composed of deejays Robert Chetcuti and Steve Mac, a.k.a. Steve McGuinness. They began mixing together around 1993 after meeting in Malta, doing remixes for, among others, Todd Terry, Michael Jackson, INXS, Junior Vasquez, David Morales, and Roger Sanchez. In 2001 they released a full-length album entitled Disconnect Your Head on Tommy Boy Records’s Silver Label, and scored two club hits in the US: “Ghetto”, featuring Jo Watson (#10 Dance/Club Play) and “The Underground” (#6 Dance/Club Play). The duo released tracks together into the mid-2000s, splitting to work as solo artists. FHMDC is ecstatic to see the duo re-emerging on the house music map!

The Rhythm Masters were very nicely asked to put together a Klassroom mix for none other than Mr. Kissy Sell Out, for his weekly Thursday night show on BBC Radio 1, and it went a little something like this…

Z Factor – Makes You Crazy / The Piano Principle

Joey Negro

Z Records return with a very strong double-sider from Mr Dave Lee under his Z Factor guise. Starting out with “Makes You Crazy” which is (believe it or not) a housed up rework of an old rave number from back in the early 90′s. Echoing rhodes, gated pads and acid squelches alternate over a big old school techno bassline. Throw in a catchy vocal, a slammin’ crisp drum groove and you’ve got an instant floor filler.

Second but not second best is the techy drums based “The Piano Principle” , which starts off in quite a deep pulsating groove before busting into a big piano riff and then a long Marshall Jefferson style piano solo. Definitely rousing slice of pure house music…

Crookers – By Hook and Crook-ers

Crookers

Get up close & personal with Crookers as Defected Records is very excited to have signed their remix for Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey” official release package that is about to surface this week!

Crookers are dance music’s best kept secret. OK, so they were dance music’s best kept secret. The peppy Italians are on the up, and on the up quickly – it’s hardly surprising then that they’ve suddenly blipped onto clubland’s radar.
