Swedish House Mafia – One

Swedish House Mafia

The unstoppable Swedish House Mafia trio of Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell flew straight to No.1 on Beatport this week, with the aptly titled single ‘One’.

Believe it or not, ‘One’ is the first track the supergroup have released together under the Swedish House Mafia name and its success is yet further proof that they are one of the biggest acts in dance music today, on the brink of mainstream recognition.

Sidney Samson Feat. Lady Bee – ‘Shut Up & Let It Go’

Sidney Samson

Holland’s hottest property Sidney Samson is back with the follow up to his monster UK Number 2 Chart hit ‘Riverside’. ‘Shut Up and Let it Go’ feat. Lady Bee is sure to receive similar success – this Dutchman is on fire!

The release comes as a package with no less than 6 remixes from an array of genres. Vinyl Groover’s mix is undeniably hard house at its best, whereas Bar 9, who have been getting love left right and centre from Radio 1 for their recent remix of the Paul Harris vs Eurythmics ‘I want you’, provide the dub heavy tones. Newcomer Hugo Van Dyck brings his disco infused vibes to the track and Cr2’s new signing Jacob Plant, whose previous remixes include Chuckie & LMFAO ‘Let the bass kick in Miami girl’ and has recently had involvement on an exclusive track with Chase & Status, puts an electro rave stamp on this already massive record. Other remixes also come from Sidney’s peer Chuckie, Bass Kleph and Raye Antonelli.

Dennis Ferrer – The Hottest Record In The World

Dennis Ferrer

One of the criticisms of the music scene over the last few years is a lack of truly great records; more specifically truly great vocal records. There’s little that unites us more than dancing to your favorite records, screaming the words back to the DJ along with the everyone else around you. It’s a life-affirming experience, and one that has sadly been all too absent from many of the world’s dance floors of late.

Step forward Dennis Ferrer, a man who over the last 6 months or so has done his utmost to inject this elusive joy back into club culture. For many, ‘Hey Hey’ has been the most inspirational original house track for years, uniting DJs and transcending genres to become THE hottest dance record in the world. Now it’s time to up the tempo even further…

The Young Punx – SugarCandySuperNova

The Young Punx

The lovechild of sleazy East London disco and jpop-esque female vocals. Perfect for late-night, back-alley antics, The Young Punx ‘SugarCandySuperNova’ is the latest offering to be lifted from current album ‘Mashpop & Punkstep’.

Calling in remix favours from fellow stirrers of the scene: First in the party is Per QX, founder of Gutterslut, creating a gritty electro workout. Meanwhile LA’s Acid Girls bring their own unique blend of cool weird electro to the party. Superfrank arrives armed with guitar blended big beats. Redroche provides the big room house banger and Dunproofin arrives with a totally illegal tasty bootleg mashup.

The track already has the blogs buzzing and has already spent a week at number three in the ‘We Are Hunted’ remix chart which monitors all blog, radio and general hype on a track on the whole net.

Juno Plus – Global On The Ground

Juno Plus Global On The Ground

The recent volcanic explosion in Iceland caused chaos for DJs across Europe, with the dust only just beginning to settle from a fortnight of cancellations, rescheduling and daunting overground journeys. Juno Plus scribe Tom Jones – himself stuck in Germany as a result of the flying ban – spoke to some DJs stranded abroad (and at home) about how they were affected, and discovered that every volcanic cloud has a silver lining…
