In a dance music industry that seemingly becomes more and more soulless as producers quickly hop from one trend to the next in hopes of nothing more than achieving fame, it’s refreshing to see producers stick their guns and follow their hearts.

Such is the case with Sweden’s Claes Rosen, whose latest EP ‘The Good Grooves’ on the digital imprint Why Not is musically brilliant and certainly non-conforming stylistically. While generally funky in nature (hence the review on this website), when listening to this EP one thinks less of it’s genre but rather it’s overall vibe…

The EP’s titular track is this reviewer’s personal favorite by a very small margin – it’s really hard to describe this track’s appeal other than to say it simply works, and it certainly does groove – listening to this track compels one to dance. The EP’s second track, Funktion, definitely has a extra helping of old-skool funk to carry things along, and would fit in nicely in a variety of atmospheres.

Tracklist:

1. The Good Grooves

2. Funktion
