Italian producer Phonat has been catching the ears of a fair few tastemakers with his last few single and EP releases. Include the likes of Annie Mac, Annie Nightingale, Fake blood, Steve Aoki, Andy George and Pete Tong to the list and you can see why the lofty Italian has been marked out as one to watch this year. Now, ahead of his eponymous debut album due out in September on MofoHifi Records, Phonat releases ‘Set Me Free’ a staccato-synthed stomper of a track, where classic 80′s rock vocals provide the support. ACT golden boys the Aston Shuffle are still flying high on the news they’ve taken the #3 spot in the 2009 Sony inthemix50, the highest spot ever for a Canberra act, and now they’ve got yet another feather to add to their cap with the news they’ve been called upon to perform mixing duties on what’s arguably the country’s most successful dance compilation. That’s right, the Aston Shuffle are compiling one of the discs for The Annual 2010, which will be a three-CD affair for the very first time.

Never one for understatement ‘ this is the guy who wore his enormous mau5-head to the Grammy’s and has oversized tattoos of a space invader and a pair vein-slicing scissors on his neck and arm ‘ the YouTube video shows Deadmau5 living it up at an Ibiza Hotel before finding the inspired idea (we’re thinking he had some liquid assistance’) to scale the Hotel balconies and skydive into the pool below, much to the delight of on looking punters!
