Exclusive Review: Warren Clarke - Jazz EP (Jazz / Get It)Artist: Warren Clarke
Title: Jazz EP (Jazz / Get It)
Label: Fluential
Format: Digital
Release Date: 3/31/06
Audio Sample: Listen

One of the most consistant players in the house music industry returns to one of the most consistant labels in the world. “Johnny Dependable” aka Warren Clarke of Defected fame comes correct with a double A-side winner of utmost proportions.

Kicking the EP off with a track titled “Jazz”, this is a super slick groove with the WC pump, as a swirling sax overdoses this cut with funk and a haunting female vocal. This is prime time material that contains just enough edge for the underground, and should work properly for both underground & clubby crowds. Hands-in-the-air material for the soulful minded… Read more

MYNC Project – ‘Something On Your Mind’ = 5 Dancing Men

MYNC Project - 'Something On Your Mind' = 5 Dancing MenMark Brown and Nick Correll (MYNC) have been rockin the nation’s biggest dancefloors for many years now and set to deliver the summer’s first blockbuster.
“Originally out last summer on white label sampling Stevie Nicks ‘Edge Of Seventeen’. Now on the mighty Apollo label with some damn funky mixes from Soul Seekers and Danny Freakazoid, but the Oscar for best remix goes to’that man again Switch! It’s a heavy heavy club cut full of throbbing basses and a unique drum programme and random vocal samples. I haven’t been this excited since Rhythm Masters mix of Todd Terry’s ‘Keep On Jumpin’! Track it down, crank it up on the pitch and watch it blow!”.. Read more

Decaff & Roland Clarke = 5 Dancing Men

Decaff & Roland Clarke = 5 Dancing MenDecaff aka Noir (Denmark’s rapidly rising dance music producer) and Roland Clark join in the studio to create -”Helpless” – via Montana recordings and DMC Update has provided the tune a very rare ’5 dancing men’ rating.
Denmark’s DJ Noir is Decaff, and this time round he’s drafted in house supremo Roland Clark, to deliver some of his distinctive vocals.

‘Helpless’ rides on driving percussive rhythms with D Train styled key stabs & spiralling effects, creating a new take on the old school, leading to Rolandâs conscious lyrics, ‘And you say to yourself, life why have you forsaken me ‘And when you look out of your window all you see is Mr Jones, driving down that street again, while you’re living in your one room shack, contemplating fast forward, stop, rewind, everything you ever wanted right outside your door, but you don’t go outside no more’. ‘Helpless’ is a new take on the back in the day house sermon, & it wouldn’t surprise me if one of the big guns picks it up & repackages it with a bumper triple pack of mixes. “This one could go all the way.”..
