This Week’s Top DJ Singles

This Week's Top DJ SinglesEach and every week, FunkyHouseMusic.com will highlight various new releases from the dance music industry to help distinguish the best from the rest.

As technology progresses, established producers and no-name bedroom producers continue to increase, saturating the market.

From our perspective, this presents a challenge for the everyday DJ to acquire the highest level of quality for his or her respective music collections.

In an effort to better our genre’s DJ musical presentations week in & week out at the clubs, and on recordings, this section of the website will attempt to provide short, concise recommendations by various members of the FunkyHouseMusic.com team on tunes we feel are worth paying attention to.

For this week’s debut, Dave Cortex reveals the select vinyls that tingled his spine the previous week.

For the week ending 12/25/05:

Basto!Rock With You – 541 (Belgium)

Great mid-tempo offering with nice bassline and guitars; decent male vocal along with uplifting synths; the Nufrequency remix is the highlight.

DJ ZdanMultiple Frequenzen – FTW (Germany)

The dub is a smooth, simple and groovy electro-house number that works great. The vocal works well too.

HousonicHousonic Grooves Vol. 1 – Housonic

Monster Guitar Track’ is an wonderfully produced mid-tempo disco house funker

JMC meets Carlovia/Thomas PriloiMan in Heaven – Shake

Solid house on the proggy tip. All three mixes work fairly well.

Josh the Funky 1Universal Sound (remixes) – Funktion

The highlight here is Ian Carey’s nice reworking, turning the stomping original into a synth-filled, airy delight. Also comes with Laurent Pautrat’s electro-y remix and 2 accapellas.

Not GuiltyNot Guilty – White

Worth mentioning for the novelty factor alone. This boot out of Germany takes four of Michael Jackson’s greatest hits and seemingly redoes them’ they sound like the original but with subtle changes’ different voice FX, or new bassline notes.

RNKRock Da Nite Club – Oxyd

Three slammin’ remixes from Olav, Sex on Monday and Noir. Very up-tempo, clubby stuff!

WalkenBoy (Meets Girl) – Freemaison

Delicious slice of uplifting electro house. Wins extra points for including an instrumental on the release.

WorkidzLove Theme – Tabledancers

Surreal mid-tempo funky house; the Carneval mix and dub are the best, the Soul Avenger mix also wins points for it’s unique ‘Speed-Garage meets electro’ sound

Young PunxIt Doesn’t Stop – Mofo Hi Fi

Energetic peak hour tune filled with bright, in-your-face synths and electric guitar riffs.
