Exclusive Review: Hott 22 – I Feel Love

Exclusive Review: Hott 22 - I Feel LoveArtist: Hott 22
Title: I Feel Love
Label: Gossip
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 12/29/05
Audio Sample: Listen

The Hott 22 boys return with another original production, providing a crossover groover for the midtempo house crowd, complete with all their usual ingredients.

Their resume shines bright like the California sun, with original & remix projects that have gained international attention, and moved floors from the UK to Miami. The bar has been set high, as this duo as appeared on labels such as Gossip, Soulfuric, Defected, and countless others.

But this project my friends, falls sharply off the cliff, and the parachute backpack never opens. Attempting to create a piano house filtered funky floor mover, the tune simply lacks the infectious energy of previous efforts. Perhaps it is this reviewer’s familiarity with Hott 22′s resume of hits, but this tune just doesn’t stand proudly amongst the crowd. Perhaps it was label pressure and an unwelcome project due date… Read more

As technology progresses, established producers and no-name bedroom producers continue to increase, saturating the market.

From our perspective, this presents a challenge for the everyday DJ to acquire the highest level of quality for his or her respective music collections.

In an effort to better our genre’s DJ musical presentations week in & week out at the clubs, and on recordings, this section of the website will attempt to provide short, concise recommendations by various members of the FunkyHouseMusic.com team on tunes we feel are worth paying attention to.

Early Obstacles For Pacha – New York

Early Obstacles For Pacha - New YorkOn the tenth of this month the legendary clubbing brand, Pacha, opened a franchise in none other than New York City.
The move was welcomed by many who believe that the once overflowing nightlife has now been reduced to a stagnant pool. Unfortunately, not everyone in New York was so happy with the club opening it’s doors with policemen storming the building and having the venue shutdown by 2am. Apparently, officials at the State Liquor Authority weren’t overly happy with the club’s stance on underage drink: http://www.nyblade.com/2005/12-16/locallife/nitelife/siege.cfm
