Title: Shined On Me (2006 Remix)
Label: Sound Division
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 11/30/05
Audio Sample: Listen

Italy’s Sound Division music label is screeching through 2005 with huge releases left and right, and they seem to be closing the year with perhaps their biggest choon yet! Recruiting the talents of Jerry Ropero & Denis the Menace, currently one of the hottest production partnerships in house music, to remix this classic vocal track was a blessing for the uptempo house community.

Just like the Young Punx did for De’Lacy’s “Hideaway”, Ropero & Menace have flipped this once strictly deeper audience tune into a pounding, fierce rework to take dance floors into orgasmic orbit. Hard hitting drums, body twitching bass line, and a massive breakdown including one of the finest build ups heard in quite some time, this will be going down BIG on NYE in numerous countries around the world… Read more

Exclusive Review: Pryda – Aftermath / The Gift

Exclusive Review: Pryda - Aftermath / The GiftArtist: Pryda
Title: Aftermath / The Gift
Label: Pryda
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 11/23/05
Audio Sample: Listen

Pryda, one of Eric Prydz’ alter egos delivers his latest multi-genre club controller. Released on one of his labels (also called Pryda), this stellar release contains two exceptional tracks, Aftermath / The Gift, which are sure to extend Prydz’ time in the spotlight well beyond 15 minutes.

Aftermath employs the use of an upfront nitty-gritty bass line hook accompanied with a wicked foreground stab, and a catchy floating synth melody. The track moves along with moderate and deliberate pacing, with each new element being introduced with it’s own mini-break. It really takes a while for initial groove to fully unfold, and while things get slightly repetitive at times, it never gets boring. After a long breakdown about two-thirds of the way through, the track drastically changes. The bassline and other elements change their melodic structure, and a bright pad comes in over the top. At this point the track has changed from a dirty electro groove to an uplifting progressive number with an epic flavor, and it’s this change and sense of progression that makes Aftermath a particularly memorable track. Some of the tougher house DJs out there might not be too fond of this transition, however the extraordinary length of the track allows a premature mix out to be pulled off with relative ease… Read more
