Pryda, one of Eric Prydz’ alter egos delivers his latest multi-genre club controller. Released on one of his labels (also called Pryda), this stellar release contains two exceptional tracks, Aftermath / The Gift, which are sure to extend Prydz’ time in the spotlight well beyond 15 minutes.
Aftermath employs the use of an upfront nitty-gritty bass line hook accompanied with a wicked foreground stab, and a catchy floating synth melody. The track moves along with moderate and deliberate pacing, with each new element being introduced with it’s own mini-break. It really takes a while for initial groove to fully unfold, and while things get slightly repetitive at times, it never gets boring. After a long breakdown about two-thirds of the way through, the track drastically changes. The bassline and other elements change their melodic structure, and a bright pad comes in over the top. At this point the track has changed from a dirty electro groove to an uplifting progressive number with an epic flavor, and it’s this change and sense of progression that makes Aftermath a particularly memorable track. Some of the tougher house DJs out there might not be too fond of this transition, however the extraordinary length of the track allows a premature mix out to be pulled off with relative ease… Read more
