“The most insane, catchy tune I have heard all year . I will pound this record into peoples heads. Ten out of ten!”

- Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim

The Young Punx are back taking a sideswipe at society’s current obsession with plastic surgery with their new single ‘Young and Beautiful’.

‘Young and Beautiful’ is a peak time party piece with sure fire crossover appeal, blending strutting disco vibes with hints of Scissor Sisters pop perfection and cheeky dialogue. Meanwhile on the remix front, French producer Laurent Konrad does an outstanding job of turning the song into an all-time classic French house electry-tinged club track, and The Young Punx remake the song as a funky electroclash workout in their ‘Fembot Funk’ mix… Read more

Exclusive Review: Sucker DJs – Le Bon

Exclusive Review: Sucker DJs - Le BonArtist: Sucker DJs
Title: Le Bon
Label: Sucker DJs
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 5/4/2005
Audio Sample: Listen

Oh boy this tune brings back childhood memories of lying on the family room rug, kicking my feet in the air, watching the daily MTV video countdown, and cheering on Jon Bon Jovi flying through the air wailing “Living On A Prayer”!!!nnThe Sucker DJs show no shame with this new wave house smasher sampling the guitar riff from the Bon Jovi anthem classic, and creating a dark, funky mainroom pleaser that should go over well from WMC in Miami to the summer isle of Ibiza.nnThe tune begins extremely dj friendly, allowing for extensive layering, leading into one of those dreaded two minute sections of a loopy beat, but once it hits the main breakdown, the tension continues to build climaxing into the famous riff, and suddenly the track explodes – explaining the repetitive teasing earlier in the track.nnGreat for opening a set, middle suprises, or closing, this tune will be a weapon for djs of numerous genres, including the more open minded selectors of the funky house community.nnIts too bad the producers didn’t include the memorable “take my hand, we’ll make it I swear” vocal for the plurry dancefloor warriors. But then again, that would take this naughty bootleg farther into the limelight, increasing the chance of an impending lawsuit!nnTrack Listing nnLe Bon (Original Mix)nnLe Bon (Reprise 1)nLe Bon (Reprise 2)

Exclusive Review: Sebastian Ingrosso – Body Beat

Exclusive Review: Sebastian Ingrosso - Body BeatArtist: Sebastian Ingrosso
Title: Body Beat
Label: Royal Flush
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: none
Audio Sample: Listen

Currently, it seems that the house music scene is being swept away by a flood of tracks from Swedish producers. Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell (to name a few), have been putting out more tracks than the average jockey can keep up with, and the hype just keeps on building. However, it would be reasonable to imagine that with so many production efforts and overexposure, the Swedish House Mafia (as they’re collectively known) are running the risk of either becoming played out, or simply unable to continue putting out quality original productions.nn nnSebastian Ingrosso’s “Body Beat” puts those fears to rest. This is an incredible genre-bending, dance floor-twisting piece of wax. The combination of a driving, in-your face bass line, and trance-induced overtones, centered on an unintelligible female vocal sample produce a sound that is very satisfying on the ears. The kick and percussion are both extremely crisp, and the epic old-school stab puts the icing on the cake. In short, this track is very well produced.nn nnThe Steve Angello remix is also very good, with the exception of the rather boring breakdowns and buildups. The focus of this mix is the dirty, funky, absolutely HUGE bass line, which is guaranteed to send any dance floor into complete madness. Steve’s version isn’t quite as high quality as the original, but it comes very close.nn nnIf this record is a sign of things to come, it looks like the Swedish House Mafia is only just getting started’nnTracklisting:.. The mighty Axwell continues to head down the road to the EDM Hall Of Fame with another scorcher for the house audience. Exclusive Review: Hound Dogs - I Like Girls (The Young Punx Remix)Artist: Hound Dogs
Title: I Like Girls (The Young Punx Remix)
Label: Direction
Format: Vinyl
Release Date: 9/23/05
Audio Sample: Listen

This could perhaps be one of the most insane peak time funky house jams I have ever heard. The Young Punx are on a serious roll right now, with extra large tunes flying out of their stable left and right.

From the uplifting feeling a la “Music Sounds Better With You” but on steriods, to the funky azz keys, impressively catchy female vocal lick, and finally, the mysterious hip hop vocals that remind the listener of the MC from the Humpty Dance by Digital Underground.

If that wasn’t enough, we are treated to hard hitting, head slamming 4/4 beats, to massive break beats, there’s no question this tune is going to absolutely devastate dance floors like hurricanes on America… Read more
