Todays mixtape is more soothing than a bottle of camomile on your peeling, chargrilled skin - a real trip through some obscure but ultimately beautiful noises, held together with a thread of summer vibes. It comes to you from Japan's most famed producer; a man who is currently touring America on the back of numerous huge releases on labels like Southern Fried and Dim Mak under his new guise; whilst his past reveals a hugely succesful and eclectic musical career in his homeland. This all contributes to the most relaxing Sounds of Summer mix we've posted yet - so put your headphones on, reserve your space in the sun and drift away to Shinichi Osawa!

We've had garage interpretations of summer, funk interpretations; and now we bring you a mix which came with the tagline "songs that I'm liking at the moment"...and strangely enough it works! Here's a chance to get a short, sharp glimpse inside the head of the chap responsible for the best / strangest vocals heard on a track in a while; in the guise of the smooth tongued Clarence Baskerville - Brighton's own High Rankin!

Looks like a certain producer who has been pushing the darker electro sound is catching the emerging disco funk bug...claiming the tag line "Noir is bringing disco back"! A bit bold of a statement in our opinion; however, we welcome established artists realizing that dance music needs to be fun again!

| Why Does Everyone Love Steve Aoki? |

You know what? It must be pretty great to be Steve Aoki. Yeah sure, he’s a pretty trashy DJ, and we don’t really care for the glam-centric LA roost which he rules, but really, Steve Aoki has it good. I mean look at him! He’s some kind of hipster messiah, he runs his own record label ( Dim Mak – the home to MSTRKRFT, Bloody Beetroots, SPA), and he has the clout to hook up collaborations with some of the biggest artists in the game.

As if you needed it, here’s proof that Ed Banger’s main-man, Busy P, can do it all. He’s managed Daft Punk to their highest of highs, cultivated the already iconic French scene with the likes of Justice, SebastiAn and Breakbot on his Ed Banger label, released some of his own killer records, signed up as a DJ and host for this year’s Parklife festival, and now Pedro Winter has added another feather to his hat. He designs jewelry. Um, what?

The new song just released on Green Label Sound. With oohs provided by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, a drum fill homage to New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle," and a video that will be a remake of that group's 1983 classic "Confusion", this comes just in time for what we hear is called "summer in New York City."

They say 'Young Love' is one of the finer things to enjoy during the summer months, and that is something that our next mixtape aurator should know all about. At just 18, this guy has redefined a French house scene that has been quietly simmering on the outskirts of music lovers' conciousness for the best part of a decade. Taking delightfully unspoilt 70's Soul samples and turning them into modern tracks sounds simple enough - but turning them into bonafide modern classics that would stand alongside the very same producers that inspired you is something else! With a mixtape that couldn't be more designed for summer if it was made out of ice cream;

Just like you can't get away from hayfever during the summer months; we're not letting you get away from quality mixtapes either! Granted, we might not stop you sneezing, itching your eyes and generally feeling like you've grown allergic to EVERYTHING outdoors...but we certainly know how to satisfy your ears in the meantime. Up next is a guy that has absolutely blown up in the past year - a feat highlighted by a huge release on Cheaper Thrills and, in my humble opinion, the best Minimix in Radio 1 history. A bold statement - but listen to it and try NOT to smile. Difficult! Things show no sign of slowing down; a collaboration with Bloody Beetroots is rapidly rising to the top of everyone's 'must have' tracklist.

Next in the Palms Out Sounds series is a chap who seems to have found his way firmly on to the front page of remixers for any self respecting label looking for a big bassy remix. One would like to say it's because his name notoriously puts him first in the Yellow Pages, but it's probably more to do with his outrageously consistent style.
